About Us

About fifteen years ago the woman in that picture had an idea.  I thought about ways to reduce the carbon footprint by creating products that were not only people-friendly but also environmentally friendly. So after months of research, Emy Baker's Organic Shoe Teas were created.  Small tea bags filled with USDA-certified organic filler and IFRA-certified fragrances made from ingredients that are beneficial to overall health and wellbeing, placed in environmentally friendly, biodegradable, and/or recyclable packaging.  Initially, I didn't get much support, and my great idea was pooh-poo'd. Undaunted, I followed my dream of creating environmentally friendly organic products to provide healthy and safe options to mass-produced skin-care and freshener products including organic soy candles and wax melts. But I still had higher aspirations.  I developed an affinity for vintage china.  Many of the sets included tea cups and saucers.  While they were pretty to look at, they weren't very practical.  More research led me to discover the benefits of organic loose tea.  It didn't take very long for the light to go on.  Ordered in bulk, I started the somewhat arduous task of filling tea bags by hand and then securely packaging them in environmentally friendly outer bags.

A lot changed since the days of the simple shoe fresheners.  I lost weight and acquired a new name. Emy Baker's Originals became an LLC and Simply Emy emerged as an eclectic boutique-style marketplace that introduced affordable clothing, and accessories like scarves, hats, gloves, novelty socks, and more.  Next came a partnership with an Amish food company and I purchased several cases of their jams, pickles, honey, and relishes.  Even with all these products, I felt something (s) was missing.  Custom-made gift baskets for babies,  birthdays, weddings, and adult stress relief and grief baskets. While manning a booth at a local bazaar, my then 8-year-old great-grandlittle Iyanna Perry decided that she and I should bake cookies and muffins to sell at the bazaar, so another set of products emerged- Mz Iyanna's Homebaked Cookies.  At nine, she is fully involved in the baking business.

The journey and transitions have been interesting, but each step was taken with a love for improving the quality of life.  Le Chaim!!!!
